Men’s Fashion

We enlisted the help of our friend Jason Yeats from local suit shop Beckett & Robb for today’s segment.
He gave pointers on how men can pair a suit jacket with jeans.
Here is the flow chart Jason made:

Stuffed

Last week, me and Melanie (I’ve known her since kindergarten!) went up to Log Haven to try out their spring menu… it was delicious to say the least.

We Must be TWINS

Britt and I showed up to work today wearing the exact same outfit – just in different colors!
H & M blazer
Loft tanktop
F21 jeans
Nordstrom wedges
Ridiculous to say the least! We have done this before but never a complete outfit.
Great minds must think alike 🙂

Braid Parade

We had so much fun doing the braid segment today. Everything from french to fishtail suits our fancy. We have found the best way to get a great braid is practice, practice, practice! However, we still have a long way to go. Check out the segment we did this morning and let us know if you have any of your own braiding tips you want to share!

Braid It

You wake up late, haven’t washed your hair in two days and want a quick and easy hairstyle? Braid it. We love the versatility and style a braid can give to anyone’s hair. Our current favorites are the fishtail and waterfall braid, so below we have a little tutorial on how to do a side fishtail braid. This is a great one for first-time braiders because it is super easy!
You can watch today’s segment here!
 Step 1: We started with dry, loosely curled hair. Can you see Britt’s new ombre?
 Step 2: Spray the portion of hair you plan on braiding with water. It helps it stay in longer.
 Step 3: Separate hair into two pieces.
 Step 4: Pull a piece from the outside and cross over. Do the same on the other side.
 (Continue with both sides of your hair)
 Step 5: Pin It! Use a decorative clip or regular bobbie pin to secure the braid.
 And… voila! The fishtail braid is back!
Happy Hairstyling!

The Royal Treatment

I was lucky enough to be able to interview the former head butler of Buckingham Palace.
Alexander Mattinson is his very British name.
He looked the part and was extremely courteous and kind.
My favorite part of the interview was when I asked him to do his best American accent and he started speaking like someone from the deep South.
{photo courtesy: Alexander Mattinson}
My favorite interesting tidbits:
– You cannot speak to the Royal family unless spoken to
– You may not shake the Queen’s hand, you wait until she shakes yours
– The butler’s favorite royal is Prince Charles, who he says has unfairly been given a bad wrap
– The Queen knows the name of every horse in her stable (there’s a TON of them)
– The Royal butler was married in St. James Palace and then he and his wife lived in an apartment there
– Alex was absolutely charming and kept saying, “Oh crumbs”, which according to Urban dictionary is an expression of dismay
– And last but not least, it reiterated my idea that I think I was meant to be born into the Royal family, but what’s new 🙂

You can watch the entire story here.
Cheers!

Twin Tested: Get Away Gray

I had one of the most horrifying experiences of my life this past week… I found my first gray hair! I’m 23 and hope that I have a long way to go before I have to worry about that. Finding the pesky gray hair did get me thinking about options for people who are looking for easy ways to cover the gray. Brooke and I scoured blogs and asked around until we found 5 great fix-its for anyone with gray hair.

{Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder, Various Colors $25, Sephora}
{Dior Mascara, Various sizes and prices, Sephora}
 {Clairol Root Touch-up, Drugstores, $6}
{Bare Minerals Eye Shadow, Various sizes and prices, Sephora}
{Scarf, Look in your Grandma’s Closet}
I hope you’re all having a fabulous hair day!

Grammys Celebrity Gift Suite

Oh my gosh you guys… the celebrities that attended this year’s Grammy Awards were so spoiled! Stars came away with more than $50,000 worth of goodies ranging from vacation vouchers to Gibson guitars. Brooke and I took a tour of the gifting suite on Saturday afternoon.
Our tour guide told us that people like Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown and the Band Perry all came through the suite to grab some goodies.

Everyone got the newest Just Dance game.. you could even practice your moves inside the tent.

This man was such a funny character. Emanuel Andren is the official truffle maker of the Swedish royal family, and you know we love anything royal! We both tried strawberry/white chocolate truffles that were divine. The cute little chocolates go for $98/box and there are 4 chocolates in one box!

You can get your very own custom made tent from Field Candy with a picture of a sheep on the front! They also had pictures of watermelon, sandwiches, and grass.
A new stylin’ tent will cost you $700-$998.
Yes, there was even a new hillbilly clothing company that was giving t-shirts away.
Utah jewelry company Jewel Kade was included in this year’s Grammy gift bag. The company specializes in gorgeous charms and beautiful necklaces. Brooke and I both wore Jewel Kade bracelets on the 4pm show. Now we don’t want to take them off!
You can watch our segment with Cristina and Heidi on the 4pm below.

Live from the Grammys

Here is our live shot from the Grammys! It was so fun to talk with Brian and share our experience.
Check it out!
Here is a behind the scenes shot.. we had to stand on a box and our feet hurt so bad by the end of the day we went barefoot. So glamorous, we know.

Grammy Awards Red Carpet

We were equally nervous and excited to hit the red carpet. Being the rookies that we are, we arrived before the cameras were even set up! Better early than late though, right? We worked with producers and photographers that have been covering the Grammys for more than 20 years. Needless to say, they were seasoned pros. Our first big interview came when I saw Thompson Square coming down the red carpet. They are an up and coming country duo, that is also a real-life married couple. They were very sweet. Next, we interviewed Steve Martin. Why was he at the Grammys? He has his own folk band, of course. We were SO tempted to ask him a question about Father of the Bride, but held back.
Next, it was time to chat up Paris Hilton and Cyndi Lauper (more on a funny bathroom run-in with Paris in our next post). Cyndi looks freaky in real life. She had at least an inch of white powder on her face.

 Next, we talked to some more country superstars. Jason Aldean came prepared with a cowboy hat, but we were most excited to interview the Band Perry, who were absolutely fabulous. The brothers with the mullet haircuts winked at us probably ten times. Woohoo haha. They were thrilled to hear I saw them in concert last week when they came to SLC with Brad Paisley.

Whiz Khalifa and Amber Rose… surprisingly they were probably the nicest people we talked to on the red carpet. Amber has flawless skin up close.
Next… we didn’t get our own pic of Taylor Swift because we were too busy screaming at her.
She breezed by all of the reporters, but when she walked past us, she paused for a second, waved and told us she loved our dresses. Then we died. We don’t blame her for not stopping to chat, most of the performers weren’t allowed to do interviews to “conserve their voices”. She honestly has the body of a supermodel, very tall and slender. We were just kind of bummed she didn’t ask us if we wanted to hang out after the show 🙂
Other people we interviewed: Rebecca Black, Jaysean (loved him!), LLCool J, Weird Al (who brought his own mini me), last year’s Best New Artist winner Esperanza Spalding, Jane Seymour, Gayle King (so sad she didn’t bring her bestie O along), Sophia Grace and Rosie from Ellen, dozens of producers and musicians, plus Chris Harrison (host of the Bachelor/Bachelorette, Tenley and Kiptyn walked the unofficial red carpet, along with some other contestants.
We did not get pictures of the big stars i.e. Katy Perry, Rihanna, etc. because we were too busy trying to grab them for an interview. Surprisingly, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga skipped the red carpet entirely.
