Twin Tested

We first got to know Blake Lively in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and then of course as Serena on Gossip Girl.

We were a little (LOT) bit nervous to interview her because about a year ago we interviewed Leighton Meester, who plays Blaire on Gossip Girl and she was not the nicest.

We also had to sign an interview deal saying that we would not ask Blake any questions about her marriage or wedding.

After signing our lives away, we thought she would be very impersonal, but we are so happy to report that Blake was super sweet and charming!

From the second we started doing mic checks, she was chatting with us like we were her best friends.

 We asked her if there was ever a morning she woke up and decided she just wanted to wear sweats.

She said of course she wakes up and puts on sweats and UGGS sometimes, but she feels the best when she gets dressed in something she loves.

 Then, we asked her what she is doing with all of her free time now that Gossip Girl has wrapped.

She said she is loving sleeping in most mornings past her usual 4:30am wake up call.

Then, we asked her about Utah because we found out she has a sister that lives in Park City.

Brooke asked where she likes to go when she is in Utah and she said she loves Nielsen’s Frozen Custard (which is one of our FAVORITE icecream joints in Holladay), Davanza’s Pizza (right off of Park City Mainstreet) and going tubing up at Daniel’s Summit.

At the end of the interview I told her I hoped to run into her at Nielsen’s next time she was in Utah.

How magical would it be to be BFFs with Blake?

I’ve been going through wedding pictures, trying to put together a wedding album of all of my favorites. 

Here are a couple of outtakes. 

They perfectly captured the time Brooke stepped on the back of my dress and thought she ripped it… too funny!

It’s the most wonderful time of year for SHOES! 

We found our favorite looks for a fraction of the price!

Looking back on photos of my wedding day has been so much fun! 

I thought I would share a couple of the wedding reception details on the blog.

We were lucky enough to have our reception in the Garff’s backyard, which many people remember as Tanner Gardens in Salt Lake City. 

It is green, lush, private and beautiful. 

They were so gracious in letting us use the space. 

I wanted a classic theme, so I chose to use a lot of navy and white stripes for the details. 

My friend Rachel did the flowers and all I told her was I wanted them to be bright and unique. 

I was so happy with the way they turned out!

 I did try my hand at a couple of DIY projects for the wedding. I made all of the white “poofballs” in the picture below with coffee filters, styrafoam balls and hot glue.

My mom was a gem and sewed the ruffled tablecloth. I loved the texture of the fabric and knew I wanted to include it somehow!

Now I just want to go back and party all over again!

I had the amazing opportunity to interview someone I have long admired, Stephanie Nielson.
She recently wrote her first book, “Heaven is Here”.
It chronicles her experience recovering after being burned on nearly 80% of her body in a plane crash.
My eyes started glistening more than once…If you want to be truly inspired, I would highly recommend reading it.

I can’t believe it has almost been a month since the big day!

We absolutely loved our photographer CEEBEE, she did a great job and got the look we were hoping for. 

I was up in the air about getting my makeup professionally done, but in the end decided I wanted to look like myself in the photos, so I did it myself.

Shannon at I’m Beautiful did my hair. She is the bomb.

For our groomal session, we made a last minute decision to go up Emigration Canyon.

As far as bridal fashion goes, I found my dress at Gateway Bridal. 

It was a size 24, strapless, and I didn’t like the top half… so I found a great alteration shop and they basically rebuilt the entire dress!

 I married a J.Crew model 🙂 Sam found his suit at Express. He also got it tailored so it fit him just perfectly! He bought his tie at J.Crew and shoes at ALDO.

This was by far my favorite moment during the groomal session. I am so happy we decided to do a first look. It was so fun to see the look on Sam’s face when he saw me.
